One of the most memorable experiences at Las Mañanitas is the release of baby turtles into the Sea—and turtle release time is August to October. Young and old alike gather on the beach in front of Las Mañanitas, home to migrating Olive Ridley and Leatherback turtles. Here, the giant mother turtles lay their eggs in the sand and 48 days later (on hatching day), resort guests gather to assist the turtles in their journey to the Sea. In 2007, guests at Las Mañanitas released more than 250 turtles.
